Red Spider Tattoo & Linemaster Switch

Short and Long Form Series | YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn

Every day, foot switches power real work quietly. We spoke with Bob Lindell and Neil Brotherton, formerly of Red Spider Tattoo (Now Metaphysical Ink) in Putnam. CT, two tattoo artists, with over half a century of combined experience, and masters in their craft. Bob and Neil have trusted Linemaster Treadlite and Gem foot switches because they are consistent, reliable, and built to disappear into the workflow. Switch Stories, Episode 1.

Real Human Stories, Told Really Well

Bob Lindell has been tattooing since 1994 and has used a Linemaster foot switch every day since. He never once thought about who made them. Years ago, he picked one up and read "Linemaster, Woodstock, Connecticut" off the label, and that was the end of the thought. His shop sits ten miles from the plant.

That's the video. It came out of the interview itself. I shot it solo at Red Spider in Putnam with Bob talking through his trade, and the usable material was scattered across a long unstructured conversation about why consistency matters when every tattoo is already different. The edit pulls one thread from that and bookends the piece with a small physical detail: his original switch, worn pale after thirty years, sitting next to a new one.

Bob talks the way he talks; there was no script. It was just me and some cameras listening and responding to him.

By the Numbers

On LinkedIn, it drew 478 views, the second-highest of the 98 videos I published to that channel this year, with 73% of the people it reached watching it, against a 38% median. On Instagram, it ran nearly three minutes, more than double my median Reel, and still finished 7th of 58 Reels at 2.5 times the median views and top five for saves and likes.
